PRESCOTT, AZ (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A Prescott man is facing several felony charges after police say he hit a motorcycle rider, dragged him hundreds of feet and then sped off Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on State Route 89 near Peterson Lane in Prescott.<\/p>\n

Prescott police said 63-year-old Jeffrey Jones was driving south in a 2003 Ford F-150 when he crashed into a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle ridden by a 25-year-old Prescott man.<\/p>\n

Witnesses told investigators Jones had been driving aggressively, including driving into oncoming traffic, before trying to merge back into the correct lane and hitting the back of the motorcycle. Police said the motorcycle and rider became entangled with Jones\u2019 pickup truck, causing the rider to be dragged about 220 feet before he was separated from the bike.<\/p>\n

Police said Jones continued driving, later stopped in a neighborhood near Cathedral Pines and Escalante Drive. When officers arrived, police said Jones tried to hide alcohol containers and was taken into custody.<\/p>\n

Investigators said breath tests showed his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit, but they did not specify the results.<\/p>\n

Jones was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated DUI, felony hit-and-run and endangerment.<\/p>\n

Authorities have not released the motorcyclist\u2019s condition.<\/p>\n
