PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Phoenix police are asking for public input on their new canine policy.<\/p>\n

The department wants feedback on procedures for recordkeeping, handler selection and canine retirements. The policy also covers standards for canine care, equipment and home and work environments.<\/p>\n

Phoenix PD & @CityofPhoenixAZ are seeking public input on a new “Canine” policy.<\/p>\n

Visit https:\/\/t.co\/vgMxiE482n for a copy of the proposed policy. The public is invited and encouraged to review the policy and submit feedback. <\/p>\n

Officials are seeking input on guidelines for training, deployment and documentation pertaining to department use of canines, as well as direction for canines critically hurt in the line of duty.<\/p>\n

Once finalized, the policy will guide officers assigned to work with canines across the department.<\/p>\n

The department opened a 45-day public comment period back in April and it ends Sunday.<\/p>\n

All comments will be reviewed and considered before the policy is finalized.<\/p>\n
