BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ (AZFamily) — A suspect is in the hospital after a shooting involving law enforcement officers outside a popular restaurant north of the Valley early Friday afternoon.

It happened around 12:15 p.m. outside Rock Springs Café along Old Black Canyon Highway in Black Canyon City’s Rock Springs neighborhood.
According to Trooper Randy Wyron with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Arizona State Gang Task Force was assisting the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) with a “pre-planned criminal investigation” in the Red Rock Springs area.
At some point during the investigation, a suspect was shot. The person was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
No law enforcement officers or bystanders were hurt.
It’s unclear if the suspect was shot by federal or state officers. Other details were not released.
