MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Two 19-year-old men have been arrested after police said the men started a fight over gang affiliations, leading to four people being shot Tuesday night.

According to court documents, Jonathan Valladares Mojica and Mark Cortez Garcia were in a Jeep circling a home south of McKellips Road and near Center Street when two people in a truck heading to a store noticed them.
The Jeep cut off the truck and forced it to stop, at which point Mojica yelled at the pair to get out while shouting gang identifiers, police said.
An argument broke out, and investigators said Mojica pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victims.
Two more people came out of a house to see what was going on after they were told the original two were being threatened by Mojica with a gun, police said.
A brief fight broke out between the groups before Mojica opened fire, striking four people, police said. Investigators said that one of the victims is a member of a rival street gang.
Mojica and Garcia ran off, heading north, and were spotted on surveillance cameras jumping over a nearby home’s wall, court paperwork said.

The four victims were taken to a hospital. Two have been released, while a man and a teenager remain hospitalized, according to police.
Detectives said Garcia later turned himself in, admitted he drove the Jeep and identified Mojica as the shooter. All the victims also identified Mojica out of a lineup, investigators said.
Mojica was arrested Thursday, but police did not say where.
Mojica was booked on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of assisting a criminal street gang, one count of threatening or intimidating to promote a criminal street gang, and one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm. His bond was set at $250,000.
