WINSLOW, AZ (AZFamily) — A man was arrested this week in northern Arizona after officials said he was driving the wrong way on a freeway, claiming he was playing a dangerous new game.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said troopers responded to a reported wrong-way driver on Interstate 40 near State Route 99 in the Winslow area on Sept. 20.
The SUV driver was reportedly going west in the eastbound lanes of traffic and was still driving on the freeway.
Troopers found and stopped the driver, DPS said. The suspect was taken into custody, and no one was hurt.
DPS said the driver claimed he was playing a new game called “Lunatic” with two other people, and that he was the “supervisor” of the game because he was the oldest player.

The driver reportedly said the “Lunatic” game involved intentionally driving the wrong way on highways or interstates.
“No amount of ‘fun’ is worth risking your life or others,” DPS said in its post. “Wrong-way driving can be deadly, and we’re glad Troopers were able to cut their game short.”
DPS arrested the driver for endangerment and reckless driving.
