(Gray News) – Macklemore was dropped from the rest of Ed Sheeran’s tour after several venues said they would not let the rapper perform, according to several reports.

“As the concert promoter for Ed Sheeran’s U.S. Loop Tour, we have been notified by venues on the upcoming U.S. tour dates that they will not allow a concert to take place with Macklemore on the lineup, which would result in the cancellation of the tour and impact hundreds of thousands of fans,” said a statement shared with The Rolling Stone by Sheeran’s concert promoter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, stakeholders decided it would be best for Macklemore not to continue the tour.
Representatives for Sheeran and Macklemore did not respond to The Hollywood Reporter’s request for comment.
Macklemore has supported the Free Palestine cause for some time but recently received backlash after giving pro-Palestine speeches during performances at MetLife Stadium earlier this month, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The Israeli-American Council launched a petition calling to remove Macklemore from the tour, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Macklemore was scheduled to perform at eight of the remaining shows on the U.S. leg of Sheeran’s tour, Rolling Stone reported.
“The venues that allegedly objected to the rapper include: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia; Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts; Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta; Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis; Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina; AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas; and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida,” Rolling Stone reported.
