TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Three people were arrested on disorderly conduct charges following an incident at a border wall construction site in Cochise County on Monday, Sept. 14.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office said it started when deputies responded to a trespassing incident involving multiple protesters.
The CCSO said it happened at a restricted border wall construction area along the international border, just east of the Santa Cruz County–Cochise County line.
Security personnel at the site told the protesters to leave, but they allegedly refused to listen.
“Several individuals subsequently moved farther into the restricted area and accessed construction materials intended for use in the border wall project,” the CCSO said in a release.

The CCSO said deputies went in and arrested three people.
“The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office respects the right of individuals to peacefully protest and express their views,” said Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels. “That right, however, does not extend to trespassing, damaging property, interfering with lawful operations, or creating a safety hazard, and we take a zero-tolerance approach to these actions.”
