TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Twenty people were rescued after a school bus got stuck in a flooded wash in Picture Rocks early Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said it happened near West Manville and North Sandario roads.
The Marana Unified School District confirmed the driver was not cited and said the “Road Closed” signs had been replaced by “Proceed with Caution” signs.
The MUSD said the bus got stuck in mud and water, and several crews responded to rescue 19 students and the driver.
An Avra Valley Fire spokesperson said crews used a 4×4 vehicle to get everyone to safety before another school bus was called to transport kids to school.

“We are grateful to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the Picture Rocks Fire who quickly provided assistance,” the MUSD said in a release to parents.
