CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — An active police situation is underway with a suspect barricaded in a Chandler neighborhood Tuesday evening.

Details are still very limited. Mesa Police said around 8 p.m. that its officers were involved in a “critical incident” near McQueen Road and Frye Road in Chandler.
Chandler police said they are assisting after Mesa police officers were involved in a shooting. Officers at the scene told Arizona’s Family that an active barricade is underway.
The public is asked to avoid the area until officers deem it safe.
Arizona’s Family is working to learn more information.
This marks the 33rd officer-involved shooting in Maricopa County in 2026 and the 59th across Arizona, according to records kept by Arizona’s Family.

This shooting incident comes less than 24 hours after Mesa police shot and killed a reportedly armed man in a neighborhood near Mesa Drive and McKellips Road.
