WESTLAKE, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) – An Ohio nursing home employee was arrested for stealing money from an 86-year-old resident.

According to a release from Westlake Police, at around 10 a.m. on July 28, a Bay Village woman called to report fraud and theft involving her blind and elderly sister, who lived at The Inn in Joshua Tree, an assisted living facility in North Olmsted.
While checking bank records, she noticed that someone made five withdrawals from her sister’s account, totaling $2,500.
She told police she did not know who was making these ATM withdrawals and that they all occurred at Citizens Bank in Westlake.

According to the release, officers got footage of the suspect taking the cash from the 86-year-old woman’s account.
From Captain Jerry Vogel, The Inn and Citizens Bank both helped in identifying and arresting Daisy Torres, a 37-year-old woman who worked as a night shift nurse’s aide at the victim’s nursing facility.
Police said she was fired from the facility and immediately arrested on Thursday.
The woman faces charges of felony theft and misuse of a credit card.
