GOODYEAR, AZ (AZFamily) — A 92-year-old Goodyear man whose family said he may be struggling with dementia was arrested after police said he killed his wife Monday afternoon.

Investigators said the adult son of the suspect told them he traveled from out of state to check on his father, who, the son said, had been showing signs of dementia.
When the son went to check on his father’s wife just before 1:30 p.m. at a home on Amelia Drive, just south of Indian School Road and west of Bullard Avenue, he found her dead inside the main bedroom, police said.
The wife, who is also in her 90s, had signs that she had been attacked, police said. Her name has not been released.

The father was arrested and taken to the hospital to be checked out. Once the suspect is medically cleared, he will be booked into jail on homicide charges, police said.
His name has not been released.
