TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Another day of extreme heat will impact most of Pima County, bringing dangerously high temperatures this afternoon. We will see a brief reprieve on Sunday and Monday as temperatures dip slightly, but the intense heat returns by the middle of next week. Looking long-term, the Climate Prediction Center indicates that above-average temperatures are likely to persist across Southeast Arizona through the end of August.

We are also tracking isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms for this afternoon and evening. The greatest storm chances are west of Tucson and over the higher terrain, though there is a 20% chance of rain in the Tucson metro. The main concerns with these storms include localized heavy rain, flash flooding, lightning, and gusty outflow winds.
Evening and overnight rain chances will linger over the next few days before drier conditions return by midweek.
