PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo brushed off reports of his star player being spotted at a Valley casino while rehabbing from a knee injury.

The D-backs are still trying to figure out how to move forward after second baseman Ketel Marte essentially ghosted teammates and management during a crucial moment in the season.
Marte was put on the 10-day injured list with left knee inflammation on Thursday less than a week after he went AWOL at a game in Boston.
But while his team was playing the Cincinnati Reds at home Friday, Marte was reportedly seen at a local casino. Lovullo said he was unaware Marte was at a casino, and the reports have not been confirmed.
Lovullo said players on the injured list are expected to attend training, which Marte did Friday morning. After being cleared by medical staff, players can leave and be with family, Lovullo said.
“He’s free to do whatever he wants,” Lovullo said after Friday’s game. “That’s how I look at it. As long as he wakes up tomorrow morning and posts and gets his work done at Salt River, which I am certain he will, that’s all that matters to me right now.”

Despite Marte not being in the game, the D-backs went on to a commanding 9-0 win over Cincinnati.
Earlier Friday, the team addressed Marte’s absence. Lovullo said the star not showing up to the game in Boston made him feel “betrayed.”
Many of Marte’s teammates said that didn’t know much about the situation and were essentially reading media reports to figure out details.
