CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — A 3-year-old is in the hospital after being found in a backyard pool in Chandler Friday evening.

It happened at a house northwest of Alma School and Pecos roads.
Firefighters said the family members found the child in the water. CPR was started on the toddler, and when police officers arrived, they took over.
Firefighters got on scene and then took the child to the hospital. At last check, the victim is in critical condition.
Chandler Police said a parent and other children were at the home when first responders arrived.

Firefighters did not say how long the child was in the pool or if the pool has a fence.
Detectives are investigating how the child ended up in the pool.
