Payroll employee accused of skimming money from workers’ checks, over $15K from co-worker

JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF/Gray News) – A woman who worked payroll for an Alabama business is facing charges for stealing from employees.

Jackson County authorities said Jasmin Vargas Levya faces 39 counts of theft.

Sheriff Rocky Harnen said Levya was allegedly skimming from employees’ checks, likely over time, at a business in the town of Hollywood.

Court records showed Levya stole thousands of dollars, including more than $15,000 from one of the workers.
