WINFIELD, Kan. (KWCH/KCTV/Gray News) – Authorities in Kansas said four children and a woman, along with a male suspect, were found dead with gunshot wounds Tuesday morning.

Winfield police said officers received a call at 8:50 a.m. from a man who said he killed his entire family and was going to kill himself.
Officers immediately responded to the home on West 9th Avenue and heard a single gunshot.
Authorities set up a perimeter and eventually breached the front door at 10:57 a.m. Inside the home, officers found six people dead.
The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Ronald H. Williams Sr., was found dead, along with 44-year-old Kelly L. George.
The four other victims were children, ages 3 to 9.

- Ronald H. Williams Jr., a 7-year-old boy
- Sarah K. Williams, a 5-year-old girl
- Kelly M. Magee-Williams, a 3-year-old girl
“Obviously, this is a very tragic day in our community,” Winfield Police Chief Robbie DeLong said.
Assistance from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation was requested at 11:05 a.m.
The state agency said Ronald Williams Sr. killed the five family members before placing the call to 911. He then died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after officers arrived at the scene, investigators said.

KCTV Investigates discovered that Ronald H. Williams Sr. has a long record of criminal charges in Kansas, including an incident nearly three decades ago that resulted in him becoming a registered sex offender in the state.
Ronald Williams Sr., who also had aliases of Freddie Williams, Laron Williams and Jerome Williams, was convicted in September 1998 of attempted indecent liberties with a child for an incident involving a 15-year-old girl.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s registered sex offender list, Williams’ offense happened in June 1997, when he was in his 20s.
Kansas court records revealed Williams also faced felony charges for drugs, battery, assault on a law enforcement officer, burglary, attempted rape, kidnapping and more for incidents ranging from 1995 to 2024. He faced felony charges in Wyandotte, Johnson and Franklin counties throughout that time.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Winfield Police Department are investigating the shooting.
