SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — A man has been indicted for the murder of a Scottsdale woman who disappeared more than three years ago, and whose body has never been found.

Joseph Ryan Vigil, 41, was indicted for first-degree murder by a Maricopa County grand jury in connection with the death of Erin Weber.
Weber was last seen on Jan. 20, 2023, at her apartment near 64th Street and Osborn Road. Her family soon reported her missing when they were unable to get in touch with her.
During the search for Weber, Scottsdale police detectives served numerous search warrants, collected evidence and conducted interviews that ultimately led them to the conclusion that Weber was dead. Their investigation also identified Vigil as the suspect.
The case was recently presented to a grand jury, which decided to charge Vigil with Weber’s murder. Police have not released specific details about the evidence that led to the murder investigation.
“Erin was our sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and a loyal friend, and she was deeply loved. Together, we grieve her loss,” the family said in a written statement released by Scottsdale police. “We choose to remember not how she left us, but rather all that she was, and everything she still might have been.”

Vigil made his first court appearance last week for charges that also included abandoning or concealing a body and burglary. He’s being held on a $1 million bond.
“Our detectives remained committed to this case from the very beginning and never stopped pursuing the truth on behalf of Erin and her loved ones,” Scottsdale Police Chief Joe LeDuc said. ”While today’s development reflects years of dedicated investigative work, our thoughts remain with Erin’s family as they continue to carry the weight of this loss.”
