PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is facing charges after police said he drove through a red light, hit a woman at a west Phoenix intersection and drove off Sunday.

According to court documents, Yamin Nameye, 34, was heading west in a Kia Sedona on Camelback Road just east of 43rd Avenue around 2 a.m. when he did not stop for the red light and struck the woman crossing the street on a green walk signal.
The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, including internal bleeding, multiple lower body injuries and fluctuating heart rate and blood pressure. Court documents said she is still in the hospital and it is unclear if she will survive.
Police said Nameye kept going while another driver, who was on the phone with 911, followed him. The witness told the dispatcher Nameye’s license plate. Nameye eventually went south on 59th Avenue and lost the other driver, investigators said.
Detectives said they used the license plate number to match an address to Nameye, and on Tuesday, they staked out his apartment complex.
Police said Nameye got into a Kia Sedona and drove away. Officers eventually pulled him over and took him into custody.

During an interview with police, Nameye admitted he hit something on the side of the road two days before, but he was not sure where or what he hit, court paperwork said.
Detectives said the parts found at the crash scene matched Nameye’s Sedona.
He was booked into jail on one count of felony hit-and-run and one misdemeanor count of causing an accident that results in physical injury. A judge set his bond at $150,000.
Court documents state that Nameye had prior arrests for aggravated assault, failure to comply with a court order, criminal damage and assault. He’s also the subject of an order of protection, records said.
