Man dies, 2 others seriously hurt after multi-car crash near Lake Pleasant

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — An elderly man is dead, and two other people are seriously hurt after a violent collision south of Lake Pleasant Friday morning.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. on State Route 74 at milepost 23 near New River Road, according to the Peoria Fire Department.

Firefighters say three people suffered serious injuries, including one person who was rushed to a hospital in extremely critical condition. A fourth person had minor injuries and declined to go to the hospital.

One of the people hospitalized, identified as 81-year-old Daniel Cohn of Chandler, later died at the hospital.

Video from the scene shows the collision involved a work truck, a pickup truck and a sedan. Two of the vehicles had severe front-end damage.

Authorities believe a westbound vehicle crossed the center line and hit two other vehicles. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but authorities do not believe impairment was a factor.
