TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The man convicted of molesting children at the daycare he ran in Tucson three decades ago was sentenced on Friday, July 17.

Judge Kimberly “Kim” Ortiz handed a 299-year sentence to Daniel George Brewster on two separate cases.
The combined sentences are to be served consecutively, which means the 67-year-old Brewster will die in custody. But the judge said if he ever does get out, he will have to register as a sex offender.
As of Wednesday, July 29, Brewster was still in the Pima County Adult Detention Complex. He will eventually be turned over t to serve out his sentence in a state prison facility.
In 1991, the Tucson Police Department began investigating reports of sexual abuse at a house on East Prince Road. Brewster, who was 33 years old at the time, was running a daycare out of the home.
13 News’ Mary Coleman retrieved the initial reports from the 1990s, which go into disturbing detail about what Brewster did to these children.
In some of the incidents, he tried to make a game out of their abuse.
Brewster was arrested on Jan. 1, 1992, but he posted bail and failed to appear for trial.
Later that year, he was convicted in absentia on 15 counts of child molestation.
In June 2025, Brewster was arrested in Kyiv by the Ukrainian National Police in a coordinated effort with the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service.

“After decades of waiting for justice, victims can now receive some degree of relief in knowing that he will never be able to walk the streets again and abuse another child,” said Pima County Attorney Laura Conover. “I am thankful to the Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs and the U.S. Marshals Service for their hard work, dedication, and collaboration on this highly sensitive and complicated case.”
He was living in Kyiv under an assumed name for several years, according to officials. He allegedly used forged documents and claimed to be a Mexican citizen.
In April 2026, Brewster was flown back to Arizona and booked into the Maricopa County jail.
“Daniel Brewster’s capture highlights the extraordinary efforts of determined law enforcement officers, and what can be accomplished when local, federal, and international agencies work together for a common purpose,” said U.S. Marshal for the District of Arizona Van Bayless. “We employed every available resource to hunt, locate, arrest, and return Brewster to Tucson so he can finally face justice.”
Brewster was then brought back to Pima County to await sentencing.
