TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A Nogales Police vehicle was swept away in a flood control channel on July 18.

The Nogales Police Department said officers received a report of a woman who had possibly been swept into a flood control wash in Nogales.
At the scene, officers determined the report was unfounded and noted the channel was dry with no flowing water.
During the search, Officer Manuel Stimans drove through the channel and became stuck in sand and mud.
The NPD said officers began attempting to free the vehicle and were caught in rapidly approaching water.
All officers were able to exit the channel safely, and no injuries were reported, but the police vehicle was swept downstream.

The NPD said the police vehicle ended up adjacent to North Hohokam Drive near the entrance of the waste transfer station and was recovered on July 19.
The NPD said they are conducting an investigation into the incident and Officer Stimans was placed on administrative suspension.
