TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – An Arizona man has been sentenced to 21 years in federal prison for conspiring with others to distribute fentanyl.

The United States Attorney’s Office said that back in 2025, 38-year-old John Parrado conspired with other people to obtain fentanyl and distribute it in South Dakota and was personally involved in the distribution of 400 grams of the drug.
Parrado allegedly obtained much of his supply through the U.S. mail.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Parrado was indicted for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance by a federal grand jury in September 2025, pled guilty on January 5, 2026 and faced sentencing on July 20, 2026.
Parrado was sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. Parrado must also pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

“This is another step forward in eliminating these deadly substances from our state,” said U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons.
