Myers says his more than three years as Arizona corporation commissioner has centered on “completely reforming” the commission, including bringing in a brand new executive director.

While Myers concedes energy bills have gone up, he says rates on the other hand have not risen as drastically when compared to the national average, citing the Energy Information Administration.

“Data center’s have gotten to be a punching block lately, and it’s maybe a little bit undeserved” Myers said, as he mentioned the “touch points” data centers have, including social media usage and streaming as examples.

Myers clarifies data centers that come to the desert need to use closed loop systems to limit water usage.
