MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Police have released new video that could lead to answers in the stabbing death of a man in Mesa last year.

On May 12, 2025, Mesa police received a call shortly before 6:30 a.m. about a possible body in an alley near Hibbert and Broadway Road, west of Mesa Drive. The victim, 47-year-old Jerry Dietch, died at the scene. Investigators say Dietch had “obvious signs of trauma,” believed to be stab wounds.
Security video captured an unknown person leaving the area around the time of Dietch’s death. The person was wearing a light-colored hoodie, dark-colored pants and dark-colored shoes.
Video shows the person pacing around several parked cars before running away from the area.
