PAYETTE, Idaho (Gray News) — A mother in Idaho has been arrested on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her 18-month-old twins, police said.

The Payette Police Department said in a statement that Andrea Shaw, 23, was arrested June 30 without incident, more than a year after the twins’ deaths.

Shaw is being held at the Ada County Jail pending extradition to Payette County, where she will be arraigned on first-degree murder charges.

Payette police said the arrest came after a lengthy investigation with assistance from several agencies.

The twins, a boy and a girl, died on May 1, 2025, according to a previous statement from Payette police. Officers were called to the home that morning where they found the twins dead in a shared bed.

“This is a heartbreaking case that impacts not only the family but the entire community. We ask for patience and understanding as we continue to gather facts and seek justice for these children,” the Payette Police Department said at the time of the children’s deaths.

According to People, just days after the twins died, Shaw and her husband appeared on a podcast in which they suggested their twins got sick and died shortly after they were vaccinated.

The podcast was produced by Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine organization formerly led by current U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Shaw’s attorney told KTVB last week that he believes the twins’ deaths were vaccine-related.

Her attorney also said Shaw has since given birth to another child.

It is unclear what evidence led to the murder charges, as police said they would not release further information about the case at this time.
