TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Tempe police are investigating after they say a man suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound after being stopped by officers.

Officers pulled a domestic violence suspect over on the Loop 202 Red Mountain on-ramp at Scottsdale Road around 9:30 p.m. Officers then heard a gunshot come from the man’s car, Tempe police said. No officers fired their weapons.
Police say the man remains in critical, but stable condition. No one else was seriously hurt.
The Loop 202 on-ramp was closed throughout the night but reopened early Thursday morning.
