SSVEC plans emergency power outage in Benson

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Sulpher Springs Valley Electric Cooperative will have an emergency power outage for Benson-area customers tonight, June 27.

SSVEC said the power outage will begin Saturday night at approximately 10:00 p.m., and customers should expect their power to be restored by approximately 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 28.

SSVEC will repair two transmission poles damaged in a storm on Thursday, June 25.

The outage will affect customers in the Pomerene area north of Interstate 10 and east of the San Pedro River.

SSVEC said customers can refer to their “Outage” page to check affected areas.

“We scheduled this work overnight to minimize the impact on our members during the cooler part of the day,” Nathan Hodges, Senior Vice President of Operations, said. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as our crews safely complete these repairs and restore reliable service.”

The American Red Cross will have a shelter open for those in the outage area at the Benson Community Center.
