Man accused of attempted murder after 3-year-old found in crocodile enclosure at zoo, police say

UNITED KINGDOM (Gray News) – A 3-year-old was seriously injured when he was found in a crocodile enclosure at a zoo, Cambridgeshire police said.

He was pulled out by Johnsons at Old Hurst Zoo staff and received immediate medical care before being taken to the hospital.

It is unclear how the young boy ended up in the enclosure.

A 30-year-old man who doesn’t know the child is accused of attempted murder in connection with the boy’s injuries.

The man who was arrested was assessed as being unfit for an interview, police said. He is on bail until Sept. 18.

“Our thoughts remain with the boy, and his family and specialist officers continue to support them through this difficult time,” Det Insp Verity McCann said.

According to its website, the zoo is home to more than 100 animals, including lions, tigers, sloth bears, capybaras, meerkats and crocodiles.
