The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said 27-year-old Leslie Gaytan Mendivil passed away at a local hospital. Two people in the other vehicle were hurt, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

The PCSD said Mendivil was traveling west on Sunrise when she drifted into the other lane and hit the other vehicle head-on near North Via Zarzosa around 12:30 p.m.

While no impairment was observed, the PCSD said distraction and inattention are likely the major factors in the collision.
