During a recent traffic stop near Broadway Avenue and Meridian Road, K-9 Tessa alerted officers to narcotics inside the car. That investigation led police to a home in Mesa, where more drugs were found.

AJPD says Tessa’s nose helped detectives uncover a large drug operation that was supplying narcotics to Apache Junction and other areas. In all, police seized:

  • 5.89 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 2.16 pounds of fentanyl powder
  • 1.8 ounces of heroin
  • 4,290 fentanyl M30 pills
  • $2,110 in cash
  • 1 vehicle

“This is just one example of the incredible work K9 Tessa is doing across the Valley, helping law enforcement agencies identify narcotics, support investigations, and keep communities safe,” AJPD wrote in a post on social media.
