Crews respond to new wildfire near Arizona-Mexico border

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Crews responded to a new wildfire in Santa Cruz County near the Arizona-Mexico border late Wednesday, June 3.

The Coronado National Forest said the Benton Fire began Wednesday afternoon and was around 50 acres with zero containment as of 9:30 p.m.

The fire is near Kino Spring and in the Patagonia Mountains.

The CNF said air and land crews from the United States and Mexico responded to battle the blaze.

There are no structures at risk, no evacuations, and the cause is under investigation.

The CNF said the area is under Temporary Flight Restrictions and that anyone who violates it could face criminal charges and a fine of up to $25,000.
